Our Principal and Founder, Sia Goutzas, brings her passion and expertise as a qualified Secondary Mathematics teacher and mother of three beautiful girls. Known for her organisational skills and inspirational leadership, Principal Sia ensures that our centres foster confidence and growth for both students and teachers alike.
Fun Fact: all three of Sia’s daughters have graduated and work in MWNS!
Starting her teaching journey in a traditional school environment, Principal Sia observed the varying learning speeds and needs among students. This realisation inspired her to establish MWNS in 2003, with a vision to provide personalised lessons catering to diverse learning styles and paces.
Leveraging her classroom background, Bachelor of Education Degree, and commitment to student growth, Principal Sia has fostered an environment at MWNS where students are motivated to inquire, embrace mistakes as learning opportunities, explore new ideas, and ultimately, achieve their academic goals.A qualified teacher at MWNS is defined as an individual who has completed training accredited by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), such as attaining a degree or diploma.
Most of our teachers are fully qualified or in the process of obtaining qualifications through reputable institutions like universities or TAFE. Although a few may not possess formal qualifications, they have showcased exceptional tutoring expertise and have met the rigorous standards set by Principal Sia before joining our team. For most in-person communication regarding your child’s tuition, you can speak directly with their tutor in the waiting room before or after their scheduled lesson. Our tutors are always willing to have a quick chat about your child’s progress and learning objectives.
If you have any administrative inquiries, need assistance outside of your child’s tutoring hour, or want to share documents or information with your child’s tutor (like a school report or learning plan from a specialist), we recommend reaching out to your Centre Manager via email or phone for assistance.
Assessments
Our Year 10 English assessment serves as a valuable tool for parents to gain insights into their child’s English language skills, identify areas for support and development, and collaborate effectively with educators to support their child’s learning journey.
Approximately 60 minutes. During this time, parents are welcome to relax our waiting room or take time to enjoy the nearby cafes and shops.
We’ve done our very best to include and assess a broad spectrum of curriculum points within the assessment. Although it would be impossible to assess the entire curriculum in 60 minutes, this assessment is detailed enough to provide parents (and our teachers) with a useful insight into a student’s current ability and areas that need building.
Let us know (02 9697 9999 | admin@mwns.com.au) and we would be happy to reschedule to another day. Wishing your little one a speedy recovery!
Absolutely! With the Curriculum Coordinator’s careful marking and analysis, parents can anticipate receiving a comprehensive report outlining their child’s performance in different topic areas within a week. This detailed feedback, delivered promptly via email, provides valuable insights into their child’s strengths, areas for improvement, and overall progress in English.
With this information, parents can make informed decisions about whether tutoring is needed, addressing any areas of concern or simply providing peace of mind. Importantly, there’s no obligation to enrol in tutoring, regardless of the assessment outcome.
Administration
Our priority is your child’s education, so we allow all lessons to be rescheduled to anytime during the current school term. The easiest way to do this is using our Parent Portal.Â
With no lock-in contracts, all we ask for is 14 days notice and an email to admin@mwns.com.au confirming the withdrawal. Your child is welcome to attend lessons for these 2 weeks or reschedule them to a more convenient time during the current school term.Â
Our Year 10 English Assessments are tailored to assess your child’s strengths and areas needing improvement. After the assessment, our Curriculum Coordinator provides a detailed report, offering valuable insights into your child’s progress and highlighting any learning gaps.
